Mother's Day jewellery: give a unique handmade piece
Handmade jewellery in genuine sea glass, as unique as she is: our advice for choosing the necklace, ring or earrings that truly reflect your mother's style.

Mother's Day comes round every year, and every year the same question arises: how do you say thank you other than with a bouquet that will wilt within a week? Handmade jewellery is precious because it lasts, it is worn and, every time she puts it on, it recalls the gesture of the person who gave it. In genuine sea glass, it adds something that mothers who love the coast understand at once: a fragment of beach, shaped for years by the waves.
Why give handmade jewellery for Mother's Day?
Mass-produced jewellery ends up on thousands of wrists. Handmade sea glass jewellery exists only once. At Éclat d'océan, every piece of glass is gathered by hand on beaches, with respect for the environment, and set without being recut or altered: its shape is the one the sea gave it. Two pieces of the same design are therefore never quite identical.
This uniqueness echoes what you want to tell your mother on that day: there is only one of her. Sea glass also carries a lovely idea of slow transformation, patience and softness gained over time. We explore this further in our article on the meaning of sea glass. And if you would like to understand how each piece comes to life, read the workshop and its unique handmade pieces.
Which piece of jewellery should you choose for your mum?
The best piece of jewellery is the one she will actually wear. Before choosing, think about her habits rather than your own taste: understated or statement pieces, silver-tone or gold-tone, long or short necklaces.
A necklace, the safest gift
A necklace is the easiest jewellery to give: no size to know, and it is seen effortlessly. The silver-tone Écume necklace, with its double steel chain and sea glass drop, suits a mother with a simple style. The gold-tone Corallia pendant, green sea glass set in a gold-tone coral branch, will please someone who loves warm jewellery. Find every design in the necklaces and pendants category.
A ring, the piece you look at most
A ring is seen with every gesture: cooking, writing, holding a cup of coffee. The Malama ring, with its green sea glass heart, carries a tender message without overstating it. If you do not know her ring size, adjustable designs such as the gold-tone Vanikoro ring avoid any unpleasant surprise.
Earrings for a touch of light
Earrings light up the face. The Éole earrings, in steel and green sea glass with a clean design, can be worn every day. The Sable d'or hoops, gold-tone with green sea glass, suit mothers who like a little more sparkle.
Giving as a group, or matching mother and daughter
Mother's Day is often a joint gift, from brothers and sisters or the whole family. In that case, feel free to aim for a more generous piece, such as the Rivage necklace, which brings together several pieces of green sea glass, cowrie shells, starfish and seashells.
Another idea that always hits the mark: choosing the same design for mother and daughter. As each piece of sea glass is unique, the two pieces look alike without being identical, a little like a mother and her child. A few ideas for matching:
- two Nerida bracelets, double steel chain with a clear sea glass bead, one for each of you;
- a silver-tone Pelagos bracelet for one and its gold-tone version for the other, if your tastes differ;
- two Vanikoro rings, one silver-tone and one gold-tone, both adjustable;
- a necklace for the mother and matching earrings for the daughter, in the same finish.
Preparing your Mother's Day gift well
In France, Mother's Day usually falls on the last Sunday of May, sometimes on the first Sunday of June. The weeks before are busy, so order ahead to receive the jewellery without stress. Every order is carefully packed in a jewellery box, ready to give, so all you need to add is a card.
Delivery is free in France on orders of 79 € or more, and pick-up point delivery is available from 5.11 €. For a last-minute question about a design or a finish, our customer service team replies through the form on the contact page.
Frequently asked questions
Will the jewellery look exactly like the photo?
It will be very close. As the sea glass is never recut or altered, each piece keeps the shape and shade the sea gave it. The tone or outline may vary slightly from one piece of jewellery to another. Your mother will therefore receive a unique piece that exists nowhere else.
Gold or silver: how do I choose for my mother?
Look at the jewellery she already wears, especially her watch or wedding ring, and stay with the same tone. Our stainless steel settings come in a silver-tone or gold-tone finish, presented on our materials page. Gold-tone warms the complexion, while silver-tone brings a fresher, more discreet note.
How should this jewellery be cared for every day?
Suggest that she avoids contact with perfume, creams and household products, takes the piece off for sport and at night, then wipes it with a soft dry cloth after contact with water. Stored separately and away from moisture, it keeps its shine for longer.
